THERE are not many roundabouts in the open sea - which is good news for the owner of this giant yacht.

The six metre wide boat, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, will soon be setting sail for sunnier climes after it chartered the intricacies of East Anglia’s road network yesterday.

The vessel - secured on a giant flatbed transport - travelled under police escort from Ashmanhaugh, Norfolk, along the the A1151, A149, B1152 and A1064 to Acle before steaming for Suffolk down the A11. After setting off at 7.30am, the boat was expected to leave the county via at lunchtime.

It is not the first large boat to tack through the county’s roads. Last month a similar sized vessel wound through the county’s streets on its way from Wroxham in Norfolk to a marina in Wherstead, near Ipswich.
