Rail commuters faced travel chaos this morning following a series of train delays and cancellations.

Services from Ipswich to Colchester were cancelled throughout the morning while trains from the county’s town to Norwich were delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Some routes to London were unaffected but several services out of the captial to the region were delayed by up to 20 minutes.

A Greater Anglia spokesman “apologised” and explained the disruption was caused by a broken down train at Ilford which “experienced a technical fault”.

She said services are set to return to normal “as soon as possible” after the train was removed from the line.
