CREWS from Suffolk Fire and Rescue were called to two chimney fires.

One fire engine from Ixworth was called to an address at Quaker Lane, Bardwell at 2.31pm Saturday after the chimney caught fire.

Firefighters took about 40 minutes to put out the blaze using chimney gear and a hose reel.

At 3.26pm one crew from Mildenhall and another from Brandon was called to a property in Blackbird Road, Beck Row, after a front room became logged with smoke. Crews cut away insulation in the loft space to reach the chimney breast and the situation was closed by 4.31pm.
