Temperatures could climb to highs of 21C on Sunday as the Great East Run gets underway in Ipswich, forecasters believe, with warmer, brighter and drier conditions expected to last until Monday afternoon.

An easterly breeze could see isolated showers break out in western parts of Suffolk on Saturday and coastal areas will be cooler in the afternoon.

The warmest temperatures are likely to be felt on Sunday, according to Weatherquest forecaster Phil Garner.

He said: “Saturday is a bit of a problem – it could be quite cloudy, particularly in the morning.

“There’s a possibility of scattered showers on the coast and in western areas of Suffolk and north Essex throughout the day as well, and an easterly breeze could make it cooler than Sunday.

“It’s likely we’ll see highs of about 21C on Sunday in land and about 16C on the coast, and we believe it will stay mostly dry and bright with mostly sunny spells.

“There might be a few areas of broken cloud on Monday but it is meant to stay warm with similar temperatures of 20 to 21C.”
