PART of Ipswich town centre has been cordoned off today after a suspicious package was found in a store.

PART of Ipswich town centre has been cordoned off today after a suspicious package was found in a store.

It is believed the package was found in Debenhams in Westgate Street at 10am. The store was evacuated.

Police are currently at the scene and the area of Westgate Street between Providence Road and the Cornhill is closed. Lloyds Avenue and Tower Ramparts have also been shut off to the public.

Police have advised taxis and local bus firms about the situation so they can redirect any routes affected. Firefighters and an ambulance crew are on standby.
