FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle two separate suspicious fires in the early hours of this morning.

Two crews from Princes Street fire station were firstly called to the scene of a fork lift truck on fire in Sandy Hill Lane, Ipswich at about 4.54am.

Upon arrival the crews discovered the vehicle well alight and used two breathing sets and a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames by about 5.10am.

As the first fire was extinguished a second broke out firefighters were diverted to the next road, Robeck Road where a small patch of undergrowth was alight.

The flames blazing in the area, just at the rear of Childers Court, were extinguished by 5.18am using a hose reel jet.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said both fires were being treated as suspicious.
