Firefighters from Ipswich and Woodbridge have been sent to a forest blaze near the Army’s Rock Barracks base in Sutton Heath.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of the fire at 6.44am this morning.
A spokesman for the service said the fire is in a field off Sutton Heath Estate and three engines and a water carrier were sent to tackle the flames.
The engines are accessing the site through the Ministry of Defence (MOD) barracks, near the town of Woodbridge and approximately 200 square metres of forest has been affected.
Engines were sent from Ipswich East, Woodbridge, Leiston and Princes Street and a stop time was called at 9am.
Crews remained on the scene shortly after the stop time, while areas were dampened down.
