IPSWICH riders Jarek Hampel and Piotr Swiderski have been named by Poland coach Marek Cieslak in his 10-man squad for next month's Speedway World Cup.The Poles finished runners-up to Denmark last season but are bidding to regain the Ove Fundin Trophy with this year's final on home territory at Leszno on Saturday, July 18.

IPSWICH riders Jarek Hampel and Piotr Swiderski have been named by Poland coach Marek Cieslak in his 10-man squad for next month's Speedway World Cup.

The Poles finished runners-up to Denmark last season but are bidding to regain the Ove Fundin Trophy with this year's final on home territory at Leszno on Saturday, July 18.

Poland were 2007 World Champions and have won the trophy on both the last two occasions the final has been held in their own country.

They face Great Britain, Australia and Slovenia in event two of SWC week at Peterborough on Monday, July 13, hoping for a direct passage into the final.

Cieslak will select his final five-man team for the opening meeting from Tomasz Gollob, Rune Holta, Piotr Protasiewicz, Grzegorz Walasek, Adrian Miedzinski, Sebastian Ulamek, Piotr Swiderski, Jaroslaw Hampel, Wieslaw Jagus and Krzysztof Kasprzak.
