THE first British residents to be confirmed as suffering from swine flu have been released from hospital.

Iain and Dawn Askham, of Polmont, near Falkirk, were being treated in an isolation ward in a Lanarkshire Hospital after falling ill following their honeymoon in Mexico.

But Scotland First Minister Alex Salmond said today they have now left hospital and are “very well.”

Mr Salmond also revealed that a further “probable” case of the virus in Scotland is now being investigated.

There are now 27 suspected cases in the country, with a further 41 people now cleared after showing symptoms.
