The 21-year-old was the bookies' favourite to go in the public vote against housemate Mohamed.
Sylvia, who emigrated to Britain from Sierra Leone when she was 11, described herself as "feisty and ambitious".
When she heard the news, Sylvia initially smiled and sat in silence, before breaking down in tears.
Earlier in the day, Dennis was thrown out of the house for spitting in Mohamed's face after an angry late night row.
