A fuel tanker carrying 5,000 litres of kerosene overturned in north Essex earlier today.
The tanker was the only vehicle involved in a crash in Delvin End, Sible Hedingham around 2.20pm.
Five fire crews were sent to the scene by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, from Wethersfield, Halstead, Colchester and Maldon (two).
They discovered around 500 litres of the liquid had entered a nearby watercourse after the vehicle had turned onto its side.
Highways officers, the Environment Agency and Essex Police also attended the scene where the leak was contained and the driver treated by paramedics.
