A TEENAGE carer was threatened by a drunk man armed with a knife who forced his way into the bungalow where she was working.

A TEENAGE carer was threatened by a drunk man armed with a knife who forced his way into the bungalow where she was working.

The 19-year-old was at the property in Beech Avenue, Wivenhoe, when the man pushed his way in at 8pm on Saturday.

A minor struggle followed after which the burglar stole �200 and then ran away in the direction of the Co-op.

Detective Sergeant Mark Merry, of Colchester CID, said: "This was a rather frightening event for this young woman.

"The man had a dishevelled appearance and had clearly been drinking beforehand as he smelt strongly of alcohol.

"He may have been seen by people in the local pub in the hours leading up to this burglary."

Police said the victim, from Harwich, was a carer working at the bungalow and was not alone at the time of the incident. She was physically uninjured by shocked by her ordeal.

The burglar was described as white, aged in his early twenties, of slim build, about 5ft 10ins tall and wearing a dark blue hoodie.
