A TEENAGER accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in an Ipswich park appeared before magistrates today.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of grabbing the girl by her arm near Stoke Bridge, Ipswich, at about 10.25pm on Saturday and leading her along Burrell Road, eventually taking her into Gippeswyk Park.

Once in the park, it is alleged that he pushed her against a fence and undid his trousers and attempted to undo hers before he asked her to perform a sexual act on him. At this point a man came into the park and the boy let go of the girl and walked away.

It is also alleged that the youngster kicked a police officer in the face when he was arrested on Monday.

Magistrates at South East Suffolk Magistrates Court remanded the youth in custody. He will appear before a Youth Court on Tuesday July 1.
