Teenager assaulted after getting off train in Bury St Edmunds and had items stolen from bag

A 17-year-old boy was allegedly robbed in Bury St Edmunds after getting off a train.

The incident took place at around 9am on Thursday, November 27, in Station Hill.

The victim walked a short distance up the hill where he was involved in an incident with a group of other teenage boys. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident, in particular a man who attempted to intervene – he is described as black and of a large, muscular build.

Any witnesses to this incident are asked to contact DC Penny Ogden at Bury St Edmunds CID on 101 quoting reference BU/14/3485, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Two 16-year-old boys from Stowmarket were arrested later that same day on suspicion of attempted robbery in connection with this incident and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where they have both been bailed to return to on January 15, pending further enquiries.
