Teenager talked down from Orwell Bridge

POLICE officers have stopped a 19-year-old man from jumping off the Orwell Bridge this afternoon.

POLICE officers have stopped a 19-year-old man from jumping off the Orwell Bridge this afternoon.

Suffolk Constabulary received reports that there was someone swinging their legs over the side of the structure around 2.20pm.

As a result officers went to speak to him and managed to take him off the bridge safely.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said the teenager was then taken to St Clements Hospital in Ipswich where he was sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
