Get your suncream ready because a burst of sunshine is set to hit the region from Thursday.

Temperatures are expected to rise to up to 23C (73F) inland on Thursday, combined with bright, sunny spells, which will be a welcome improvement from the grey and blustery forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday.

And on Friday, the top temperature is expected to reach 25C (77F) ahead of a mild weekend.

However, the higher temperature will bring with it increased humidity and the chance of thundery showers.

The forecast follows the start of the meteorological summer today.
