The “original” open gardens are returning to west Suffolk, as the village of Walsham-le-willows gears up for the bank holiday weekend.
The Walsham le Willows Open Gardens Weekend will celebrate its 37th year on August Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday. It is one of the longest running in the country.
They will open 30 gardens this year, ranging from the large to the miniscule.
The event is now organised by The Walsham Le Willows Open Gardens Trust, a registered charity.
The funds raised at the Open Gardens are for village causes, including the maintenance of the parish church. So far more than £250,000 has been raised for the 15th century St Mary the Virgin church.
There will also be a village market, arts sale and flower festival in the lovely church. A new addition to the program will bring vintage cars to the village.
