Seven of Suffolk and north Essex’s green spaces are battling it out to be named the UK’s best park. But which one is your favourite?

Abbey Gardens and Park, Bury St Edmunds

The park features formal gardens, ruins, an aviary and sports facilities.

Part of the site pre-dates Magna Carta.

Castle Park, Colchester

This park boasts more than 2,000 years of history and is grade II-listed for its gardens of special historic interest to England. It is a place to enjoy picnics or walks to take in the stunning views.

Christchurch Park, Ipswich

The park is a jewel in the crown for Ipswich and is home to wonderful ancient trees and green spaces. The Mansion stands proudly overlooking the park.

Cliff Park, Dovercourt

This green space enjoys sea views. You can also walk to the other part of Dovercourt and Harwich to from it.

Halstead Public Gardens, Halstead

This park has won an Anglia in Bloom award and is landscaped in Victorian fashion. It has also achieved both Green Flag Award and Green Heritage Accreditation.

Holywells Park, Ipswich

Holywells is a haven of wildlife, nature and fun with something for everyone. Visitors can enjoy a play park, green space, woodland walks, conservatory and maze.

Ramsey War Memorial Recreation Ground, Ramsey

The park is completely run by volunteers and features mature trees and a woodland walk. The team recently fundraised for new wooden play equipment.

The UK’s Best Park award is organised by the charity Fields in Trust.

The seven Suffolk and Essex parks are part of 360 nominated across the UK. The closing date for voting is Friday, November 3.
