A Bury St Edmunds-based company has received a Twitter boost from former Dragons’ Den star and retail entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.
Wild Play, which was launched this year, is an outdoor learning and forest school experience run by two former teachers.
Heidi Franklin, former headteacher at Abbots Green Primary School in Bury St Edmunds, and close friend and fellow former teacher Denise Winder tweeted Mr Paphitis about their business during ‘Small Business Sunday’ (SBS).
Wildplay was selected as one of six weekly winners and gained a retweet from Mr Paphitis to his 500,000 followers.
The weekly initiative, set up by Mr Paphitis in 2010, now has more than 2,200 SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK.
Wild Play will also be profiled on the SBS website – www.theopaphitissbs.com – and will have the opportunity to attend Mr Paphitis’ celebration event in February.
The Bury business offers a wide range of services including work with charity and community groups, children’s parties, working with schools, holiday clubs, and is about to launch ‘Feel Good’ corporate days.
Mrs Winder said: “We ran our very first session back in April, so we’ve only been operating a few months. The support and feedback we’ve received from all elements of the business has been incredibly positive – we couldn’t have wished for a better start.”
Mrs Franklin said: “It’s great to have support from Theo because being an SBS Winner recognises all of the hard work that goes in to setting up a new business and helps to spread the word about what we do to his followers and business network.”
