THETFORD: A man was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries today after he was in collision with a police car.

Norfolk police said the acciddent happened at 2.50am on the A1075 at Kilverstone, near Thetford.

The injured pedestrian was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital, at Bury St Edmunds, for treatment.

His in juries were described as “not thought to be life threatening”.

A male police officer has also been taken to the same hospital, to be treated for back and leg injuries.

In a statement this morning, Norfolk police said: “Early indications are that the vehicle was not involved in an emergency response at the time of the incident.

“As a matter of course the incident will be referred to Norfolk Constabulary’s Professional Standards Department and the Independent Police Complaints Commission.”

The Watton side of the A1075 has been closed while an investigation is carried out into the incident. Diversions have been put in place.
