OFFICERS investigating the theft of �31,000 worth of model racing car parts have urged enthusiasts and shop owners to keep an eye out for the stolen items.

OFFICERS investigating the theft of �31,000 worth of model racing car parts have urged enthusiasts and shop owners to keep an eye out for the stolen items.

They were taken from a lorry parked in a layby on the southbound carriageway of the A12 at Margaretting, near Chelmsford, in the early hours of Saturday.

The haul - believed to be worth �31,000 - was taken from a consignment from a firm in Austria that specialises in making parts for radio control buggies and race cars.

Hundreds of items were taken including model kits, body shells, electric motors and numerous smaller items.

PC Gary Windfield, who is investigating the crime, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about the whereabouts of these stolen items.

“If they are being sold, advertised locally or even being offered to model shops please let me know immediately.”
