Kind-hearted students at a Sudbury school raised around £500 for five charities at their Christmas fair.
Students at Thomas Gainsborough School organised a number of food and craft stalls at the festive event, with the different houses within the school joining together.
Sixth form students organised a ‘Beat the Santa penalty shoot-out’ competition and another £400 was raised from donations for wearing Christmas jumpers. Amie Butcher, assistant headteacher, said: “The atmosphere throughout the event was fantastic. It is occasions such as these where we see the whole school community come together in order to support those in need.
“It really promotes the ethos of the school and its core values of respect, happiness, resilience, honesty, confidence and positivity.”
Money from the fair was raised for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Suffolk Family Carers, the Tom Bowdidge Foundation, the Friends of TGS and the Befriending Scheme.
