Vandals who ripped the face off a Thomas the Tank Engine ride along train at a holiday park have apologised for their actions and offered to pay for repairs.
Staff at Stonham Barns said it was “saddening” to see the damage caused by a group of teenagers walking past the train, who ripped the face off it and threw it into a bush, breaking it in the process.
The train has now been taken off-site to be repaired.
The group has since come forward and apologised for the vandalism. They have agreed to pay for the repairs and as far as Stonham Barns is concerned, the matter has been resolved.
A Stonham Barns spokesman said: “We are very proud of our Thomas the Tank Engine, which our youngest visitors and their families love to ride on when they come to see us.
“Thomas also helps us to raise money for the good causes we support including Parkinson’s and East Anglian Air Ambulance, so it’s really saddening when this kind of thing happens.
“We are very grateful for all the supportive comments we have received in recent days about this incident and we look forward to welcoming Thomas back better than ever once he has been repaired.”
