Firefighters in Essex spent more than two hours extinguishing a blaze in the roof of a house in the early hours of this morning.

Two crews from Clacton, two from Frinton, a crew from Weeley and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene in Colchester Road, Thorpe-le-Soken at 4.15am today.

Firefighters used three hose reels to extinguish the fire at about 6.25am.

A thermal imaging camera was then used to check for any hotspots.
