Golfers are being urged to don their gaudiest garbs for a day of fundraising on the fairways.

There will be some wacky attire on show at Thorpeness Hotel and Golf Club on Friday, December 20, when players will be encouraged to wear the loudest Christmas jumpers they can find.

The charity golf day is in aid of Suffolk Family Carers’ Eight Days a Week Appeal to raise £525,000 for a mobile family carers unit to tour the county for two years, providing health and well-being activities, as well as trained staff to support carers in need of respite.

Paul Clouting, hotel director, said: “Golfers are always being teased for wearing argyle or diamond-patterned sweaters and bright trousers.

“This is one occasion when sartorial swingers can make a real difference to the lives of people who spend every single day caring for others in need.”
