MANY homes across Suffolk and Essex are still without power because of high winds and heavy rain.
There are 1,200 EDF Energy customers across East Anglia still without electricity - with engineering work continuing tonight in Bury St Edmunds and Colchester.
Suffolk was one of the worst affected areas in the region with Risby, Levington and Acton all affected by faults caused by yesterday's weather which brought wind gusts of up to 50mph.
EDF Energy Networks started to receive reports of faults late yesterday afternoon and engineers worked into the evening and from first light this morning to continue with repair work.
A spokeswoman for the company said they hoped to have everything back on line by the end of play today.
She added: “We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused and assure customers that we are doing all we can to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.”
