POLICE have today urged motorists to drive with caution after three separate crashes in icy conditions.
The first crash on the A14 happened at 6.15 today at the A1303 slip road at Bottisham near Newmarket. A driver had ended up facing the wrong way beside the central reservation on the westbound carriageway. Emergency services were sent to the scene. The driver was not injured and one lane was closed for off for a short amount of time.
Cambridgeshire police called in the Highways Agency to grit the road and while traffic officers were dealing with the incident a second car skidded into a ditch at the same location.
A spokeswoman for the police urged drivers to lower their speed and be doubly vigilant in the icy conditions.
At 8.15am a motorist went into the barrier on the A14 at Trimley St Mary as he was heading out from the docks. Police are currently dealing with the incident.
