SUFFOLK: Three people were arrested after a man was taken to hospital following an alleged brawl at a Suffolk hotel – believed to be among guests at a wedding.

Police were called to the Ufford Park Hotel in Melton, near Woodbridge, at around 1.30am on Saturday after reports that someone had stamped on a man’s head.

Three men were arrested on Saturday for wounding with intent and were questioned by officers later that day.

The fight broke out in a corridor on the second floor of the hotel and one man, believed to be around 40, suffered a cut to the head.

Following the altercation, one of the men involved in the incident jumped over a balcony to escape, running on to the hotel’s golf course.

A Suffolk police spokesman said a police dog unit was sent to the hotel to search for the alleged attacker.

It is believed the fight broke out among guests at a wedding which had taken place at the hotel earlier that day.

Nicholas Holdsworth, Ufford Park Hotel general manager, said: “In order to preserve the rights of the bride and groom we are unable to make any further comment.”

The 87-bedroom hotel is set in 120 acres of historic parkland overlooking the picturesque Deben valley and is regularly used as a wedding venue.

It has a health spa and 18-hole golf course which has previously been used as a venue for the PGA European Tour.
