Detectives are investigating the events that led to the attempted theft of heating oil at a house.
A man told officers that a group of men were attempting to seize oil from his home on a road off the B1023 in Tolleshunt Knights, Essex, just after 1:30am yesterday.
The police helicopter scoured the area while a dog handler searched the roads and fields.
Two men from Gravesend and Rochester, Kent, were arrested in a field near Barn Hall Road.
After questioning, the 26-year-old and 22-year-old men were released without charge.
