Detectives investigating an assault at a pub in a village near Halstead are appealing for further information from the public.

The incident happened at the Green Man pub in Church Lane, Toppesfield, in the early hours of Sunday May 26.

A 35-year-old-man from the Halstead area has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of GBH until July 18 following the.

A fight occurred in a beer tent at the back of the pub involving a group of men.

A 39-year-old-man from Halstead received serious fractures to his face and was detained in hospital overnight but may require reconstructive surgery.

Detective Sergeant Becky Young said: “Lots of people in the village are aware of this incident but I need any other witnesses who were there on the night and who haven’t spoken to police to get in touch urgently.”
