Families heading to Jimmy's Farm today will want to pack plenty of suncream as forecasters predict scorching temperatures accompanied by high UV levels.

Jimmy’s Festival gets underway at 11am today, as crowds flock to the family resort in Wherstead to see the likes of Paul Young and the Happy Mondays, as well as vegan cooking icons BOSH!.

The annual celebration of music and food returns with a host of activities to enjoy, suitable for the whole family.

So far traffic is looking clear leading up to the event, with no significant delays on the A14 apart from very slight congestion around Copdock.

For those coming up from Essex, the A12 is very slow around Capel St Mary, but otherwise fairly clear.

Those travelling to Jimmy’s Farm via the A137 should be aware there are roadworks causing some congestion just off Pannington Hall Lane.

The sun is looking to be strong throughout the day, according to the Met Office, with a warning of high UV levels – so visitors would be encouraged to pack plenty of water, sun cream and caps or hats. In Ipswich, temperatures will peak at 25C at around 2pm, easing down to the low 20s only later into the evening – at around 8pm.

In the Wherryfields main area, festival-goers will be treated to a host of top-class acts across the two days, including indie-rock band The Bluetones and children’s entertainers Dick & Dom.

There is also a variety of workshops to try including pink gin tastings, a tequila masterclass and an educational workshop on bees.

Over in the kids area, there will be non-stop entertainment for the little ones including circus skills, comedy, a butterfly house, animal painting and an ancient woodland to explore.

Tickets are still available to buy on the gate, or can be purchased here: https://jimmysfestival.seetickets.com/event/jimmy-s-festival-2018/jimmy-s-farm-ipswich-suffolk/1151708
