TRAINS travelling through Ipswich were stopped for half-an-hour this afternoon after a concerned train driver spotted a woman looking over a bridge.

The driver reported the female standing on the Bobbits Hole Bridge, near the dry ski slope at around 1.15pm.

A caution was sent out to all trains in the area warning them of the woman's presence.

Suffolk police were called to investigate and further reports noted the woman was also spotted on Bourne Bridge.

Network Rail staff and police officers spent an hour searching the tracks, with a complete stop on trains passing through at around 2pm.

A Suffolk police spokeswoman said officers were happy there was no sign of the woman on the tracks and the caution was lifted at 2.15pm, allowing trains to pass through.
