A broken down freight train is the latest problem to affect rail services in the region during a frustrating week for commuters.
Abellio Greater Anglia has reported delays are expected until 5.45pm because of the disruption to the line between Ipswich and Manningtree.
Although the freight train has since over come its problem, some services from London Liverpool Street have been forced to terminate in Manningtree and others have been subject to alterations.
Earlier today a point failure affected services in Essex.
And yesterday overrunning engineering works caused widespread disruption for morning commuters.
