FOUR-WAY traffic lights are causing disruption for motorists in Ipswich town centre this morning.

Temporary traffic lights have been put up in Stoke Street, Burrell Road, Bridge Street and Vernon Street while National Grid deal with an emergency incident.

Motorists are being left queuing and the tailbacks are likely to increase during rush-hour traffic.

Traffic is very slow moving in the area, with hundreds of commuters making their way to work at a snail’s pace.

Houses were left without gas and electricity yesterday due to emergency repair work to fix a gas leak.

The leak was reported in Burrell Road, Ipswich, yesterday afternoon and temporary traffic lights were put in place to divert motorists. National Grid engineers cut the supply to two houses to make the scene safe and engineers from UK Power Networks were called in as the leak was believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
