Trains are being delayed for up to 10 minutes in the Manningtree area after a lorry clipped a barrier at a level crossing.
A spokesman for Network Rail said a lorry had struck and damaged one of the barriers at the level crossing at Manningtree.
He said a manager was on site and was manually controlling the barriers to keep the road traffic moving. When the repairs are completed automatic barrier operation will resume.
The spokesman said British Transport Police had been contacted.
No-one was injured in the incident.
