A van and a car were in collision on the westbound carriageway shortly before 5pm just before the Orwell Bridge.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said traffic was originally queuing back as far as Nacton.

However at around 5.15pm he said the accident had cleared and traffic was flowing freely.

No other problems are being reported.

Earlier a Ford Fiesta went into a grass bank at Main Road, Woolverstone, just outside of Ipswich.

Police were called around 3.45pm and the driver was not thought to have been hurt.

National Express East Anglia also experienced some problems with its train service.

The 3pm Norwich to London Liverpool Street was delayed for seven minutes at Ipswich because of a problem with line-side equipment.

The 3.52pm Ipswich to London Liverpool Street was made up of eight coaches instead of 12 because of a train fault.

The 3.58pm Ipswich to Felixstowe train was delayed by 12 minutes because of a problem with line-side equipment.

The 4.30pm London Liverpool Street to Norwich service was made up of eight coaches instead of 10 because of a train fault.

The 4.35pm Colchester Town to London Liverpool Street service was formed of eight coaches instead of 12 due to a train fault.
