THE history of a memorial to Sudbury’s most famous son, Thomas Gainsborough, is being celebrated with a new book and a special beer.
Gainsborough’s statue on Market Hill was originally unveiled in June 1913 and celebrations are planned this summer for the 100th anniversary of the event.
Sudbury Museum Trust has produced the book, entitled The Painter, The Princess and The Statue. Local brewer Mauldons is producing a special beer, Tom’s Tipple.
