Tribute paid to Braintree motorbike crash victim Dan Bellingham

The name of a man who died in a motorcycle crash in Braintree last weekend has been provisionally named by Essex Police.

Dan Bellingham, 31, from Braintree was riding a Yamaha motorbike in Glebe Avenue in Braintree when he was involved in a collision with a Nissan on Saturday morning.

Despite the efforts of paramedics Mr Bellingham died at the scene.

His family issued a tribute yesterday afternoon, describing Mr Bellingham as an “amazing father”.

Paying tribute, his family said: “We are sad to announce the tragic death of Dan, a much-loved son, fantastic brother, perfect partner and a truly amazing father to four beautiful children.

“He has been taken from his loving family far too soon.

“Dan, you will always be in our hearts and you will never be forgotten.”

The driver of the Nissan, a 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has since been released by Essex Police under investigation.

A 27-year-old man who was driving alongside the motorbike at the time in a Subaru and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop for a collision and failing to report a collision.

He has been released on bail by police until June 6.

Witnesses reported seeing up to 15 emergency vehicles in the area after the incident which took place at around 11.30 am.

Representatives for the Essex Fire and Rescue Service said they assisted police and ambulance crews in making it safe.

One crew from Braintree fire station was called to help at the scene.

An Essex and Herts Air Ambulance helicopter was also dispatched to the scene of the collision to help.

Essex Police are still asking for witnesses to the collision on Saturday to come forward.
