SOLDIERS who braved Afghanistan's notorious Helmand province have been honoured at a special ceremony.
The men and women from 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery (7 Para RHA), based at Merville Barracks in Colchester, received their medals after returning from a six-month tour of duty.
7 Para RHA is 16 Air Assault Brigade's specialist artillery unit and worked across Helmand province in support of all operations providing firepower, reconnaissance.
The troops also worked alongside the local population in an attempt to win the “hearts and minds” of the population.
About 150 service personnel were on parade to collect their medals with hundreds of friends and family members.
