Carol Ann Russell, 51, died after her Ford Fiesta crashed into a security fence in Caxton Way, near to the Tulip meat processing plant in Thetford, on Thursday at 1pm.

She was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, but later died.

Meanwhile, a 61-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash on the Suffolk and Norfolk border.

It happened on the A143 Needham bypass at around 5.50pm on Thursday. He was travelling towards Bungay when his Honda motorcycle left the road after overtaking a Citroen Berlingo car. His identity is not yet known.

Rush hour traffic suffered delays yesterday following a collision between a car and a motorbike on the A11.

An American serviceman was taken to hospital with serious injuries as a result of the crash, which happened at Barton Mills.

Emergency services were called at about 7.15am following the accident involving a Honda motorcycle and a Mazda 323 car, half a mile south of the Fiveways roundabout.

The northbound carriageway of the A11 was closed and one land of the southbound carriageway was blocked for more than two hours.

The male motorcyclist, who is a member of the US Air Force, was taken to RAF Lakenheath's hospital with multiple broken bones.

Meanwhile, an elderly woman has suffered serious leg injuries after being involved in a collision with a car in Ipswich.

A police spokeswoman said the woman's condition was “possibly life threatening” after the accident outside Homebase, at Warren Heath. The collision, also involving a blue Daihatsu Sirion, happened just before 12.10pm.

The woman, believed to be in her 80s, was taken to Ipswich Hospital by ambulance.

There were also significant delays on the A14 near Ipswich yesterday evening as queues built up behind a large load as it was transported to Felixstowe.
