A MOTORIST was injured when their car ploughed into a building and closed a busy town centre road in Ipswich.
The accident happened around 11pm last night in Star Lane, on the corner of Fore Street.
A red Seat Cordoba collided with a building and two people are believed to have been treated for minor injuries.
A structural engineer from the borough council was called to assess the damage to the property, which appears to be empty.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said a decision was made to close Star Lane completely because it was feared that if a heavy lorry went past the vibrations could cause the property to collapse.
One lane of the road was re-opened in time for this morning's rush hour and the bus lane was also used for general traffic to help ease congestion.
A spokeswoman said officers were initially called to an accident involving a silver Honda Civic, red Seat Cordoba and a blue Ford Mondeo.
She said the Seat was discovered to have hit the building and was removed from the property at 1.35am.
