Two women had to be cut from their car by the fire service after colliding with a van on the A1088 near Stowlangtoft.

Suffolk police were called to the scene shortly before 8.30am this morning, following reports of a two vehicle collision on the junction linking the A1088 (Stow Lane) and Woolpit Lane, near Stowlangtoft.

Two women were freed from one of the vehicles by firefighters and left in the care of the ambulance service.

The road was closed until roughly 11am, prompting some reports of traffic congestion in the area.

The condition of the casualties is not yet clear.
