Police have arrested two men in connection with an incident in which a noxious substance was thrown into a woman’s face in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk last week.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of GBH after a woman temporarily lost the sight in one eye when a “noxious substance” was thrown in her face at a pub in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

The woman, aged in her 30s, received medical attention after the attack in the Glad Abbot pub in Glastonbury Road at around 11pm on Friday.

Suffolk Constabulary said the two men, both aged 25, were arrested in the town on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the incident and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where they will be questioned.

Police previously said that two men, one wearing a hooded top and one wearing a baseball cap, entered the pub and threw the substance from a bottle.

Officers were not treating the incident as a random attack, but believe the woman was not the intended target.

Police said earlier this week that they were investigating possible connections between the attack and a dangerous driving incident reported just after 10pm on the same evening.

Officers received “a number of calls” about two cars, believed to be a Ford Fiesta and a Vauxhall Insignia, driving dangerously and crashing into each other in the Out Risbygate and Newmarket Road area of Bury St Edmunds.
