DETECTIVES are hunting two men who sexually assaulted a woman as she walked through a Chelmsford park.

The victim, aged in her twenties, was dragged into a small nature reserve in Central Park and attacked by the two men.

Police said the pair struck between 10.30pm and midnight on Friday as the woman walked along a footpath next to a cycle track.

After she was sexually assaulted, a group of young women were heard coming along the path from the direction of the town centre prompting the attackers to run off.

The men were both white, aged in their mid to late twenties, about 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build.

One had short, dark hair and was wearing jeans and a black tee shirt.

The second man had dark hair that was longer than the first man’s and was wearing jeans and a white, checked shirt.

Police said the victim was physically uninjured but had been left “traumatised.” She is being interviewed and supported by specially trained officers.

Police have appealed for anyone with information, particularly the group of young women, to contact investigating officers at Chelmsford on 0300 333 4444 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
