TWO people were rescued from their house in Felixstowe today after a fire broke out in a bedroom.
Firefighters were despatched to Gosford Way at around 3am to reports that the victims, believed to be an elderly couple, were trapped in the terrace property.
The first-floor bedroom was well alight when they arrived and smoke bellowed to the adjacent houses as they ushered the pair to safety.
They were said to be conscious and breathing, but were taken to hospital by paramedics.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said they were not treating the blaze as suspicious but a specialist officer was investigating how it started.
