TWO people were rescued from a 30ft yacht after it ran aground and started to capsize on the River Orwell in Ipswich.
The incident unfolded late last night as the long-keeled vessel became stuck on a rocky ledge in the New Cut section of the river. As the tide started to go out, the boat began to capsize, putting the two occupants at risk of falling into the water.
However, they were safely rescued by port authority workers in a dinghy, while the coastguard sent lifeboats to the scene to assist. The fate of the stricken boat was unclear last night.
