HEALTH Secretary Alan Johnson said today that the number of confirmed cases of swine flu in the United Kingdom has risen to 34.
Updating MPs on measures to tackle the virus, Mr Johnson said one of two new cases involved a school child.
A total of 10 people not known to have visited Mexico had caught the virus from close contacts, he said, adding: "We can reasonably expect the number of such cases to increase considerably over the coming weeks.''
Mr Johnson said 13 children were among the 34 cases confirmed so far.
