RACING at Britain's first new course for more than 80 years is set to begin this afternoon.
Following a final inspection this morning, Great Leighs' first public meeting has been given the go-ahead.
Punters have already started arriving at the course, near Chelmsford, looking forward to the 2.30pm race.
There are six races on the card today for the sold out event although tickets are still on sale for tomorrow afternoon.
