Two suspected unexploded mortars and ammunition, found in a building site in Colchester, saw a 100m cordon enforced in Mersea Road afternoon.
Essex police were called to the building site at around 3pm and put the cordon in place.
The military’s explosive ordnance disposal unit attended and removed the devices.
The cordon was lifted at about 4.20pm.
