Student volunteers from the University of Essex swapped lecture notes for paintbrushes and re-decorated a children’s centre.
More than 60 students gave up their weekend to transform the Barnardo’s-run Rainbow and ABC Together Centre’s reception area and playroom in Walton, used by 1,300 families in the area.
Anya Visegorodceva, Student Union volunteering co-ordinator, said: “All the students had fun on the day and made new friends.
“We hope it will inspire others to volunteer and help their communities.”
